On May 17, 2010, a huge fire erupted at the Lyondell refinery in Pasadena, Texas. At least nine contract workers were in the area of the fire. All of these workers sustained injuries in their frantic attempts to flee the fire, fearing it may explode at any moment.
Lyondell publicly stated there were no injuries in connection with the fire. However, Lyondell neve spoke with any of these nine contract workers, none of whom were employed by Lyondell.
