Katy Police Officer Loses Job after Double Fatal Crash in Houston

We have an update on the Waller County car accident that claimed the life of a mother and child earlier this week.

Officer Cody Parchman, a passenger in the vehicle that fatally injured Katherine Addison and her son Kendall, was relieved of his position on the Katy police force this morning. Parchman had been a member of the force for less than a month.

Instead of driving under the influence, Parchman let his 23-year-old friend Taylor McShan drive his pickup truck after a night of drinking. Unfortunately, McShan had also been drinking and took the wheel while under a suspended license, striking and killing Katherine Addison on Interstate 10.

Addison had gotten out of the car to change a flat tire. Her vehicle caught fire in the crash, and her son’s body was later discovered in the wreckage.

McShan will face criminal charges for the incident, but police were unsure how to proceed with Parchman. After conducting an internal investigation, Katy Police Chief Bill Hastings said the department ultimately chose to dismiss him because Hastings saw that he was intoxicated at the scene.

Addison’s family stated Friday that they believe Parchman should face criminal charges. While the accident is still under investigation, Hastings has attested that Parchman will not appeal his firing.

The Houston accident lawyers at Vujasinovic & Beckcom express their condolences to the Addison family, hoping they will find a way to heal after this senseless tragedy.
