Houston Company: Worker Killed In Gas Wellhead Explosion

The Houston-based company Hilcorp Energy has reported that one of their workers was killed and another was seriously injured in a gas wellhead explosion on Thursday, March 31.

The on-the-job accident took place a few minutes after noon this week when police believe a pressure buildup at the site led to an explosion. A small gas leak was found after the explosion but was soon under control. A number of government agencies arrived on the scene to determine the cause of the explosion and whether or not the worker accident should have been prevented.

Hilcorp Energy released a statement that stated that it would fully cooperate with the local, state and federal investigations that will examine the exact causes of the worker accident. The statement also sent sympathy to the families of those injured and killed in the explosion accident and emphasized the company’s ongoing focus on employee safety.
