Groves Man Dies in On-the-Job Tractor Accident in Jefferson County

An apparent on-the-job accident in Texas left a tractor operator dead last week in Jefferson County.

According to the Beaumont Enterprise, 34-year-old Enrique Aguilar of Groves, Texas was mowing an area near South China Road on Monday, November 14, when the tractor he was riding slid off of a levee and into a canal, perhaps overturning on top of him.

Aguilar was last seen on Monday morning at about 7:30 a.m. Someone spotted and reported the overturned tractor that afternoon, and emergency responders were at the scene soon after. At 5:40 p.m., the Beaumont Fire-Rescue dive team recovered the body of the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. His death was listed as an accidental drowning.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office stated that there will be an investigation into the fatal Texas tractor accident. It is currently unclear who Aguilar was employed by at the time of the rollover.

Sadly, rollover accidents are all too common for tractor operators in Texas – and these accidents often result in serious injury or death.
