General Motors Co. is recalling 20,000 Cadillac SRX crossover vehicles worldwide, due to potential problems with the transmission shift cable. 8,789 of the recalled vehicles are in the United States.
The recall will begin in January and will be free of charge, according to GM.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Cadillac SRX vehicles made from October 26, 2008 through June 23, 2011 had transmission shift cables that could come out of a transmission bracket.
When the cable comes out, the vehicle can be unable to move and can result in drivers believing the transmission is in park, when it is not.
The recall began when one driver wrote to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reporting an unintended motion of his Cadillac when he shifted from park to drive to park again.
Whether you own a Cadillac SRX or not, it is very important to take away the fact that it all started with one simple letter. The power one person can have may save lives around the world.
