Galveston police warn drivers to buckle up or get a ticket

Traveling to Galveston?  Already live there?  Make sure you wear your seat belt, as the Galveston County police are on the lookout for unbuckled motorists.

This is all part of the federal 2010 “Click It or Ticket” campaign being funded in Texas by Texas Department of Transportation grants.  In Texas, it is now the law that ALL vehicle passenger wear a seatbelt.  Anybody riding in a vehicle without a seatbelt can be ticketed by police.

Galveston law enforcement officers will be on the lookout for drivers, passengers and children who are not bucked up.  That’s right, parents and caregivers need to pay special attention to new child safety seat laws that went into effect last September.

The seat belt crackdown in Galveston is running through June 6, 2010.  Galveston residents and visitors can expect to see extra police officers out on focused seat belt compliance patrols.
