Florida Interstate Worker Killed By Negligent Teen

Steven Arthur Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident after he was struck by a car driven by 18 year old Brandon Joseph Conti on I-75 on the evening of November 23rd.

Morgan was an employee of DBI, a company contracted to do interstate maintenance. While fixing an earlier fender bender accident, Morgan was working in the southbound emergency lanes of I-75 when Conti was distracted and tried to avoid the traffic which was stopped due to the earlier accident and lost control of his car.

Conti hit Morgan after striking the guide cable in the median and overturned, landing upright. A passenger in the car, Tyler Lee Cutright, was ejected from the car and flown to Blake Trama Center for serious injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol found Morgan dead at the scene.

Drivers can make stupid mistakes, especially when it comes to avoiding traffic, but that doesn’t mean that the victims and the families of victims should be held responsible.
