Fatal head-on collisions in Texas

There were a number of deadly head-on collisions across Texas this month, highlighting the dangers that this type of accident poses for motorists and their passengers.  Head-on collisions can result in very serious injuries for both drivers and passengers, since the speed of both vehicles combined in the crash usually results in significant damage to each.

Injuries like broken bones, serious back injury, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord damage, and more can be caused in head-on collisions.  Sadly, due to the force of these collisions many of these accidents result in fatalities.

Examples of head-on collisions this month in Texas:

  • A Port Acres man, Ray Anderson Dodson, 69, died at the scene of a head-on collision when he veered into oncoming traffic on Highway 365 between Hwy 69 and West Port Arthur Road in Port Arthur.
  • Cleburne mother of four, Crystal Laningham, 20, was killed in a head-on collision south of Cleburne with an oncoming truck.  She veered into oncoming traffic then moved back into her lane; however, the truck driver had moved into her lane to try and avoid her so they collided head-on.
  • Rodrigo Enriques of Killeen, 47, was killed when a 1994 Honda sedan crashed head-on into his vehicle.  The Honda was traveling north in the southbound lanes of State Highway 195 north of Florence in Williamson County when the accident happened.
