On Thursday, an accident on Almeda Road involving an Audi Sedan and a Ford Explorer left three people in the hospital.
According to police, the Ford Explorer was distracted and ran a red light, colliding with the Audi who was making a left turn on West Orem from Almeda Rd. They hit head on, instantly knocking out the engine from the Audi, which hit two cars.
The police were called around 1:45pm to find the cars almost completely torn apart and the drivers in dyer condition.
The driver of the Ford Explorer that ran the red light was a female, unnamed, who was rushed to the hospital. The driver of the Audi, also female, had a male passenger in the car with her. Both of them were rushed to the hospital as well. Police had stated that at least two of the people were in critical condition, though it is not clear who.
The crash left debris on Almeda which caused the road to remain blocked to northbound traffic for several hours.
