Conroe Man Files Texas Jones Act Lawsuit After Crane Accident

A Texas man has filed a Jones Act lawsuit in Beaumont after he seriously injured his neck and back in a crane accident. He states that the accident was caused by negligence. The worker, who is from Conroe, is seeking compensation for his medical costs, pain and suffering, distress, maintenance and cure, attorney's fees, court costs, and interest.

According to court documents, Daniel Laxson was working for Towing Management on June 29 when the company was assisting the M/V AET Explorer vessel. During the job, Laxson was struck by a crane on the ship and seriously injured. He was pulling cable out of the water at the time of the incident.

The seaman - who is suing Atlantic Marine Equipment, Towing Management and the M/V AET Explorer - says that the companies did not properly supervise the workers, did not properly train the workers, did not provide sufficient safety equipment, did not have an adequate crew, and did not properly maintain their vessel.
