Chicago Construction Worker Dead From Accident

A demolition accident in the South Side of Chicago left a construction worker dead on Wednesday, November 16th.

What was supposed to be a routine work day turned fatal. The work-related accident happened when a piece of a heavy concrete beam and part of the ceiling fell onto a worker who was working on the top floor of the three-story building site. The fallen pieces left him with serious injuries.

When the emergency crews arrived, they pronounced him dead at the scene, reported NBC Chicago. No identity has been released at this time.

Reportedly, another man was also working on the top floor with the victim who was not injured.

The U.S Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the accident, particularly what caused the concrete beam and other material to fall. If the construction workers were working in an unsafe environment, the company can face serious consequences.
