With the fourth of July just around the corner, this is a good time to remind Texans about the dangers facing them on roads and highways during major holidays. The Texas Department of Transportation collects and analyzes data from motor vehicle accidents across the state, and every year they publish their findings.
The most recent data available for holiday week and weekend fatalities are from the year 2007. Here, in order from most fatalities to the least, are the number of crashes and the number of people killed on big holidays:
As you can see, holiday weekends always result in some number of crashes and fatalities that forever change the lives of Texans.
