Last Thursday, A&M’s backup offensive lineman Joe Villavisencio died when his car crashed directly into an 18 Wheeler near Normangee on FM 39.
Villavisencio was headed home to Jacksonville for the holidays when his car swerved. The 18 Wheeler was headed in the opposite direction when the two vehicles met at impact.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt in the accident, but Villavisencio’s died at the scene.
Family and friends have spoken out about the incident saying they lost a tremendous individual and one of the most respected players. Villavisencio had spent the last three years in a backup role on the A&M College Football Team and played against Baylor and Kansas this season.
Funeral Services were held on Monday.
The identity of the 18 Wheeler Driver is yet to be released.
