21 Personal Injury Lawsuits Filed After San Antonio School Bus Crash

A number of VIA bus riders in San Antonio have filed personal injury lawsuits after a Northside Independent school bus rear-ended the vehicle as it stopped to pick up passengers. The school bus driver, who has been fired as a result of the accident, claims that the brakes on the bus stopped working in the seconds before the crash.

Cameras on the VIA bus captured mover a dozen people suffering injuries as the crash occurred – one man was thrown to the floor, while the bus’ driver appears to suffer from whiplash. A man just boarding the bus injured his foot. While nine people were immediately brought to the hospital for treatment, 12 more sought medical attention after the crash. There were no students on the school bus at the time of the accident as the driver had just finished its middle school route and was on its way to the high school. The school district is concerned that between the lawsuits and the totaled $100,000 bus, it will face even more tough budget issues in the coming year.
