The Katy Freeway saw an incredible happening early Monday morning. An 18 wheeler hit a concrete divider, causing the cab to completely separate from the rest of the semi. The driver and a passenger were pinned against the pillar while the rest of the semi skidded down the freeway and exploded.
The 18 wheeler accident happened on the Katy Freeway eastbound near the Taylor street exit. It’s expected that weather and speed was a factor in the crash. The driver lost control on the wet surface, creating an inevitable circumstance.
Both the driver and the passenger were cut out of the cab by firefighters.
Debris littered the freeway as the morning rush hour came in. Both directions of the freeway were closed and the inbound lanes were opened just after 7:30am.
It is said that the two patients should not have survived such a remarkable crash, but miraculously they were in stable condition when they were transported to Ben Taub Hospital.
Poor weather conditions are a huge factor when dealing with car accidents, but speeding never should be. Every day, there are cases where people aren’t so lucky. Negligent or distracted drivers play a giant role in car accident deaths.
